> "Nathan called within minutes of the job being listed and offered advice but without any pressure for us to have him do the work. Gave him the go ahead to sweep the chimney and he was here within a couple of days and arrived promptly as promised, and was polite and friendly. All work was carried out, everything left clean and tidy and he also re-insulated the unused chimney to keep the room warm and stop any debris falling into the room which had been a problem. Would definitely recommend."

## Before you hire a roofer
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Never agree to roof work from a cold-caller at your door or an unsolicited 'we noticed your roof' note. That is the classic roofing scam.
- Get a written quote that itemises access (scaffolding or a tower), the exact materials, and the workmanship guarantee, not a vague day rate.
- Be wary of demands for a large cash deposit; agree staged payments against work you can actually see completed.
- A major re-roof must meet building regulations. Prefer a roofer on the NFRC Competent Person Scheme (CompetentRoofer), who can self-certify the work and is vetted and inspected at least twice a year. Check they're listed at nfrccps.com before you commit.
- Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
