## In customers' own words
_Verbatim quotes from this trader's public reviews, each attributed to its source:_
> "My front door latch came away from the door and lodged itself in the door frame. I could not get out the front door as it would not open. I called Kliff (the business owner) on Monday evening and he was able to talk me through how to release the mechanism and get the door open again via a face time call. I could not retrieve all the latch mechanism from the door frame, so Kliff attended in person the next morning and managed to fix the latch back in place on the door. I was very impressed with the service and the time that Kliff took out of his day to come over to me from North London. I have no hesitation in recommending Kliff and his company to my fellow Which? members."

> "Matt from Keymakers (London) Ltd. did some work on the wooden side door of my garage, which had become swollen in the bad weather, in order to enable the key to turn in the lock as it should, and to open the door easily. I found Matt to be very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. He also took the time to explain in detail what he was doing to fix the issue, and was happy, as well, to answer any questions I had. I would not hesitate to recommend Matt to others."

> "I needed my front door lock Mechanism to be fixed and I saw that Key Makers were very highly rated by other Which Trusted Trader reviewers. I was impressd by the professional attitude and efficiency of how they dealt with my call from the very start, promptly answering the phone and being courteous. Kliff (the business owner) suggested taking a picture of the lock mechanism and sending that by phone, so they could have the right part available when they came to me. Kliff was very knowledgeable and the right part was indeed brought to me. The locksmith who attended, (Matthew), phoned me to give me an estimated time slot to arrive, which was a nice touch and re-assuring. Matthew diagnoed what the problem was and fixed the mechanism quickly and kept me informed of what was required. The cost was very reasonable and I will absolutely use this company in future and will pass on their details to my friends and family. Thank you again Matthew – a job well done."

## Before you hire a locksmith
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Get the call-out fee AND the total price agreed in writing before they set off. Emergency locksmith overcharging is a common complaint.
- Be wary of anyone who insists on drilling the lock straight away: most locks can be picked open, and drilling then selling a replacement is a known upsell.
- Look for a locksmith approved by the Master Locksmiths Association. The MLA vets and inspects its members, and locksmithing is otherwise unregulated.
- Confirm they cover your area and can actually come out in your timeframe before anything else.
- Read recent reviews for reliability and turning up on time, not only the quality of the work.
