## In customers' own words
_Verbatim quotes from this trader's public reviews, each attributed to its source:_
> "Our roof was coming to the end of it's useful life so we booked Oakley for a replacement of the felt, battens and tiles. All completed with no issues apart from the weather, which despite the extended period of heavy rain, was managed expertly to maintain quality and keep the water on the outside. The work was a required repair but the roof is now actually a lot neater than before, and with a different tile colour that better suits the house, so turned out to be a bit of an improvement too. All worked out very well."

> "I’m so happy with there work. We had the full roof done then my husband asked if he could look at our porch roof. What can I say he did an excellent job again. I would highly recommend this company 100%. They are very friendly tidy and there work is very good ."

> "I had remedial works carried out to a tiled roof , the leaded gullies and chimney. This company worked professionally, and were friendly, they started on the agreed dates, kept us informed of progress throughout, taking and sharing pictures of before and after each stage of the works. And completed on time, leaving everything so clean and tidy, that unless you looked at the new work on the roof, you wouldn't know builders had been in. The estimate was comprehensive and clear, so there were no surprises come the inoice. I would not hessitate to recommend Richard."

## Before you hire an architect
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade — general guidance, not a claim about this business:_
- Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
- Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
- Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
- Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
- Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
