"Elson came to investigate damp in our house that we were concerned about. Elson was punctual, and very nice. We explained the situation to Elson, and the things that we had tried to resolve the issue. Elson was confident that the things we had done would fix the problem. To save us some money Elson recommend some DIY solutions to get rid of the stains. We asked for a quote for him to do the work anyways, and the price was more than reasonable for the level of expertise we would be getting. Builders who are as honest as Elson and who try to save their customers money are very rare."

Get the diagnosis and an itemised quote in writing, and be wary of pressure to sign on the spot for a long 'guarantee' that is only worth anything while that firm is still trading.
