About MyTrustedTraders

Independent evidence on traders worth your call.

Choosing a trader is one of the most expensive decisions most homeowners make outside buying a house, and often one of the hardest to judge. MyTrustedTraders brings public review, registry, and profile evidence into one place so homeowners can inspect it faster. The same evidence is structured so AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude can read it too, so the answer you get there rests on the picture you can inspect here.

The four commitments

What the product is built to protect.

01

Evidence and editorial results stay distinct.

Profiles show public reviews, checkable credentials, and named sources. A separate evidence-recognition edition can compare firms only through a frozen, published method. It never becomes profile evidence or feeds its own result back into Trust Score or search order.

02

Consistency beats volume.

A hundred reviews across several named sources is harder to fake than a thousand on one isolated profile. We cross-check whether the same business shows up consistently before putting it forward.

03

Peers see what customers cannot.

Trade-to-trade endorsements are hard to buy and useful to inspect, especially where specialist work depends on collaboration.

04

No pay-to-play.

Businesses can claim profiles, but money must not buy placement, evidence recognition, badges, better reviews, or stronger trust language.

Evidence layers

The profile is only useful when the source meaning survives.

Our position is explicit. MyTrustedTraders is not a private endorsement badge. It presents public evidence and, on separate award pages, reproducible editorial comparisons. Every layer has to keep its source and limits visible.

Review sources

Reviews stay attached to where they came from.

The review sites and directories we import from keep their names visible. Consolidation does not turn imported evidence into MyTrustedTraders-owned reviews.

Registries

Credentials need a source homeowners can inspect.

Registry-backed credentials, company status, licensing, and insurance signals stay separate from review volume so a busy profile does not look verified by accident.

Peer signal

Trade relationships carry their own meaning.

Architects know builders, builders know plumbers, and specialists know who they would work beside again. Those signals are useful only when the relationship is named and bounded.

Evidence recognition

A published comparison must show its method and limits.

Each MyTrustedTraders edition names the comparison group, evidence dates, sources, tie-breakers, limitations, and correction route. Recognition is editorial, free, and never certification or a workmanship guarantee.

For homeowners

The product is built for inspection before contact.

Search, shortlist, compare, and enquiry flows keep proof summaries close to the action so a homeowner can pause on evidence before calling or sending job details.

For listed businesses

Profile control and correction stay separate from paid growth.

A business can claim a profile, correct wrong source data, or ask for privacy handling without buying ranking, badges, review placement, or stronger trust language.

Evidence limits

Source limitations are part of the product.

Thin review history, missing credentials, uncertain identity joins, stale source data, and unresolved gaps remain visible because hiding them would make the evidence harder to judge.

Why it exists

Trust should come from inspectable evidence, not a sales funnel.

A strong marketplace should help both sides: homeowners get better evidence before they call, and businesses get a clear route to own, correct, or challenge the profile that already represents them.

  • Homeowners should be able to inspect the same public facts before they call, shortlist, compare, or request a quote.
  • Traders should be able to correct, claim, or challenge a public profile without being pushed into paid placement.
  • New markets stay behind local readiness gates until the evidence, rights, and source boundaries are safe to show.

Read the evidence rules.

The transparency standard explains what the public site may show, claim, and refuse to overclaim.
