Handy household jobs I had 6 floating shelves for my son’s bedroom, After putting up the shelves Rob asked if he could get paid, which I found unusual as he was coming back the next day, so I said no I have paid upfront before and it can be problematic, he even showed me his bank account which was -£240 he became very insistent and made me feel uncomfortable. I still said no but he went on, on in the end I gave him £100 after he left when my son was cleaning the shelves we noticed 5 of the 6 shelves he put up were damaged bumped scratched, cracked he hit one so hard the back of the shelf caved in. I then realised why he was so insistent I pay him as he knew I would retain some of his pay for the damage to the shelves. I allowed him to come back even though I didn't want him there but I had to let him come back to complete work so I wouldn't lose the money I had already paid him. I let him complete the work and then addressed him about his behaviour and the damage and he apologised. I found him very manipulating and I felt harassed and bullied into paying him the money. His work is poor he works very untidy tools and dust everywhere even though I left a dustpan in the room this is how I think he damaged the shelves without care – It’s important to leave an honest review so we can hire good workers who are trustworthy. - I strongly recommend do not hire ....If I could I would have uploaded pictures.
