3 sash windows on ground floor need refurb

Repair Wooden Bay Window frame
On the 22nd June I posted about getting my windows repaired. Paulius had a waiting list of 3 months but because of good reviews I waited. When he came to view the windows I said I didn't know if they needed repair or replacement. He said he could repair some of the panels, I texted him to ask if the repair would last 4 years whilst I save for replacement, he said that the work had been booked in for the day before and that I had wasted his time and he wasn't interested in coming back. I was so surprised. He didn't communicate any of this at the time. Not once did he say the work had to be done that day or not at all. I'm not a trader so I didn't know what was needed and I was trying to assess whether to get them repaired or replaced and needed his professional opinion and subsequent work. When I asked if he could do the work he said he wasn't interested but I feel his communication wasn't clear. Other window repairers come to view/quote and then do the work. He wanted to view and do the work on the same day, which is fine but he didn't say this. I'm just disappointed with the communication. I said I'd text him later to let him know if it's going ahead, he nodded and said this was fine and then sent me an upset text saying I'd wasted his time. Very confusing. Now I still need the work done and I'm left with rotten windows and the potential of another 3 month wait with another company. He feels I wasted a day but he's wasted 3 months for me and a winter with rotten windows.

The job was done quickly however there were a few finishing touches that I would have liked done but did not spot at the time. Overall it was a ok.

Paulius did a great job! Refitting 7 sash windows that had been badly installed, changing weights, repairing broken cords, changing locks and draught proofing them too. I have already recommended him to my neighbour and I will rehire Paulius in spring to paint all the frames. Punctual, tidy, good price and good communication. Would definitely recommend!

Hi. Thanks for visiting my page on my builder.I've been working with wooden sash windows for the last 12 years now doing all rotten wood replacements, sanding repairs and repainting. Replacing cords and rebalancing, replacing the beads or broken glass, fitting new locks and security restrictors, replacing double glazed units, front door repainting, masonry repairs and repainting. I do it all from inside the house or off the ladder, i do not need any scaffold. I do gutter clearing, repairs, slate roof repairs
