How we counted this

We count every trade business with a publicly visible listing and a live link on a public review or directory source in each town. Of those, we count how many have a company-register status of dissolved, in liquidation, or being struck off, drawn from public company registers (Companies House and equivalent). We only publish a town with at least 200 listed businesses and at least 5 register matches, so no small number can identify an individual firm. A register status can lag reality, and any business can correct its page. See trader rights.

These are facts about company-register status, not an accusation of wrongdoing. To check any specific trader for free, try the Cowboy Checker.
