Bespoke Flooring & Carpentry

This trader has supplied, repaired, cleaned our parquet floors for more than twenty-five years. He has worked efficiently, sometimes by himself and sometimes, when it was a big job, with a colleague. He is very pleasant, explains his work and we regard him as a friend.

I have been amalgamating two flats into one dwelling., for myself. James (who runs Bespoke Flooring) first completed the floor in my music room in herringbone pattern (oak engineered wood) in autumn 2020. This was done beautifully and has been much admired, including by others in the building trade. Subsequently, James continued into the front room with the same flooring in October 2021. He will be back towards the end of June to continue with the hall floor and joining it up with the othermm This looks quite tricky to me, but I know it will all be done with resourcefulness , imagination and good humour. James is both very good at his job and absolutely reliable. He was originally recommended to me by a retired carpenter whose work on an adjacent house I had admired.

Sanding and refurbishment of cork flooring and wooden flooring in 2022. Previously (2018) elsewhere in the house, extensive replacement flooring. A tidy, considerate and trustworthy worker who is also a good communicator. The previous plan for reflooring had to be rethought when the house structure was not found to be we had expected. James took this in his stride, and we worked out a satisfactory solution together. James had been recommended to us and, in turn, we would be happy to recommend him.

We had parquet wood floors installed Expert floor-laying to a high standard by James, a lovely bloke too.

Bespoke Flooring installed a new timber floor with us in multiple rooms and we were extremely happy with the communication and workmanship that they carried out. They completed the job in a professional manner and we?re happy to say that the results years later are still excellent.

We have to say that finding this company was a stroke of luck as the finished result is of a very high standard and the clean up after the work was excellent. We also were happy with the estimate knowing that for this quality of work it’s worth paying for. James McGowan is a professional which shows in the results of his work.

The Bespoke Flooring team sanded and re-treated large areas of our wooden flooring. Having a joiner completing this work made such a difference as they removed all the skirting boards and stair treads and made sure everything matched. They helped with colour choices and everything was beautifully restored. As people to have in your house they were friendly and accommodating at all times, and nothing was too much trouble. We moved out while the work was being completed and had full trust in the Bespoke Flooring team to look after our house. Highly recommended to anyone!

This is the second time we have used James on a renovation project. Previously he did the herringbone flooring in our Victorian terrace house in Lewes. We had the whole of the downstairs done in a beautiful honey coloured oak. James was fast, super clean and a pleasure to have around. When we put that house on the market the estate agent said the herringbone floor was the first thing our buyer loved about the house. When we moved we booked James in straight away, he transformed my studio space overnight. As it was a studio/office room, we had wide-ish oak boards, a less expensive option. James was equally fast and tidy, he also worked calmly through the madness of an old house post move. James is great, you will be lucky to have him do his magic in your home!
