“Our surveyor failed to spot rising damp in the house we had just bought, so we hired British Waterproofing to come and fix it for us back in January. We got three quotes in total from various companies, but Nick and his son who came out were so friendly and down to earth, we decided to go with these guys. Very genuine, didn't feel like we were taken advantage of being a young couple and not knowing much about building work. Workers, Glenn and his team were very punctual, friendly and kept me updated on the progress and cleaned as best as they could after each day. Finished a day earlier.”

Insist they identify and fix the underlying CAUSE (a leak, blocked airbricks, poor ventilation, failed pointing) before agreeing to an injected damp-proof course, and ask them to explain why simpler fixes won't work.
Get the diagnosis and an itemised quote in writing, and be wary of pressure to sign on the spot for a long 'guarantee' that is only worth anything while that firm is still trading.
