Callum came to give an estimate very quickly, was very knowledgable and professional and produced a quote for the required work within a day or so. The work was carried out on the day we agreed, and Callum even tidied up a couple my own small repairs. When completed, everything was left clean and tidy, and we are delighted with the workmanship and service. I would not hesitate to use Callum again. 10/10

Damp and timber work isn't licensed in the UK, and "rising damp" is often over-diagnosed - so a real qualification matters. Property Care Association members hold recognised damp-surveying qualifications (CSRT/CSSW), follow a code of ethics and must have traded at least three years. Check they're a PCA member before you accept a damp-treatment quote.

Get an INDEPENDENT damp survey, not a free one from the firm that wants to sell you the treatment. A free survey has every incentive to diagnose expensive 'rising damp', when the problem is often condensation, a leak, or high ground level that needs no chemical injection.
Insist they identify and fix the underlying CAUSE (a leak, blocked airbricks, poor ventilation, failed pointing) before agreeing to an injected damp-proof course, and ask them to explain why simpler fixes won't work.
Get the diagnosis and an itemised quote in writing, and be wary of pressure to sign on the spot for a long 'guarantee' that is only worth anything while that firm is still trading.
