Why this helps you judge trust: this trader is linked to a registered company with named people who are legally accountable for it, on an official register anyone can check, a layer of accountability an unregistered trader doesn't offer. Around 16 years on the register also points to an established business rather than a brand-new one.

About

Check www.emrarchitecture.com for more pictures of projects. EMR Architecture is a RIBA Chartered boutique architecture studio based in South West London, specialising in high end residential renovations, basements, extensions, and full house refurbishments. We work with private homeowners in Hammersmith and Fulham, Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, Holland Park, Putney, Wimbledon, Richmond, Barnes, Clapham and Battersea who want a deeply personal, calm and well structured experience while benefiting from the technical rigour, planning knowledge and delivery discipline of a large established practice. EMR is intentionally boutique. Every client receives close attention, clear communication and genuine involvement from start to finish. At the same time, our projects are run with the same level of diligence, systems and precision you would expect from a much larger studio. Nothing is left to chance, from planning strategy to construction detailing and site coordination. We specialise in complex residential projects including conservation areas and listed buildings, deep basements, rear and side extensions, loft conversions and interior led refurbishments. Each home is entirely bespoke. Designs are never repeated and solutions are carefully tailored to the client, the building and the borough planning context. We remain closely involved during construction with regular site presence, tight coordination of consultants and contractors, and careful control of drawings, budgets and materials. This hands on approach gives clients confidence, clarity and peace of mind throughout the build. If you are looking for an architect in Hammersmith, Fulham, Chelsea or Kensington to deliver a refined residential renovation, basement or extension with a truly personal yet highly professional service, EMR Architecture offers a balanced, design led approach from first sketch to completed home.

Worth checking yourself
Their public evidence comes from a single source. Look them up on another site before deciding.

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK. Ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts (a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate) and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded (the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site), and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
