“We contacted Goulds due to condensation in our loft space and were recommended a complete removal and refelt of the roof. Work was carried out in Feb 23 and appeared fine, but the condensation returned this winter worse than before the work was done last year! I contacted Paul again who recommended further work/vents (why was this not recommended originally?), but have had radio silence on this for over two months now, despite repeated calls, emails and WhatsApp messages to try and book in the work. £8500 worse off and the loft condensation is worse than before Goulds completed their work.”

Highlights
Detailed reviews
These are the individual reviews we hold for Goulds Roofing, including the highlights above. The 47 headline total is the review volume reported across public review sources.
Having completed a small job satisfactorily, Goulds Roofing agreed to undertake a larger job for me. I paid them a substantial deposit but they failed to turn up. Paul Gould now seems to have gone to ground, not answering the phone or responding to numerous texts or emails. I am also faced with having to pay for scaffolding to be removed from the first job, which has been left there for almost a year. I am now left with no option but to contact Trading Standards with a view to making a claim through the small claims court.
We chose Goulds Roofing because of their high rating and reviews but they have not lived up to those standards. Gould Roofing has not fulfilled their financial obligations to the scaffolding firm involved in the job. The scaffolders are refusing to dismantle the scaffolding that is still up outside my home 7 months after the job was 'complete' posing a significant health and safety concern. I also had to pay for the rubbish from the job to be removed although that was meant to be included in the quote. They are now not answering any emails or calls to resolve.

What to check before you hire
Roofing isn't licensed, so anyone can set up - and it's a trade with more than its share of cowboys. A big re-roof must meet building regulations; CompetentRoofer (the Government-authorised NFRC scheme) registers roofers who can self-certify that, and vets and inspects them at least twice a year. Check they're on it before you hire.
