GWS were exemplary from start to finish. Every aspect from the initial visit to completion of the job was faultless and professional: all concerned we’re helpful, considerate, communicative and highly skilled. I will certainly use them again and will unhesitatingly recommend them to others.

The work involved capping parapets, installing a new valley gutter with a higher gradient, relaying the roof with new tiles and replacing joists where necessary. It was done to the agreed schedule and budget. GWS stood out in that their quote was clear and were very happy to visit and explain any items of work or technical terms. We liked the fact that their was more than one generation in the family business, we dealt with Daniel who supervised the work and Gary who would be there for Daniel to consult as needs be. We were confident they fully understood the issues associated with our roof. Throughout the job they were happy to send us photos and respond to our phone calls asking after progress. We were please with the behaviour of their employees during the job and were impressed with the dedication and care shown by the skilled roofer who must have done all the tricky bits that mean the roof isn't going to leak. There were a couple of contingent items, which were spelt out and quoted for in the quote, regarding the potential support of the gutter and that it may have to be relaid with a higher gradient. We were consulted on these items when the roof was first uncovered, and decisions could be made.

I have no hesitation in recommending GWS and the Sparrowhawk family as a very professional and pleasant firm to deal with. They carried out two separate pieces of work for me during the Covid-19 lock-down. The first to complete work to rectify lead work on the parapet wall beside my loft extension, which had already started before lock-down in March. The second - once lock-down restrictions had been eased - to replace the felt covering on the roof of my shed in the garden. Both jobs were carried out within budget - and within the time specified in their estimates. As a firm, they are very easy to deal with. No problem in reaching them on either the phone or by e-mail. Surveys and estimates are swiftly arranged and given and dates for work to be carried out are met.

I instructed GWS to quote for re-tiling and re-insulating the back pitch of the roof, including a dormer window, requiring some pitched roof, flat roof and lead cheek work. The estimator who came to inspect the roof to provide the quote showed patience and understanding in answering the many questions I had. The quote was presented in a clear and itemised manner and the company's insurance policy was attached. Whilst the initial quote presented was higher than others, GWS were willing to discuss it and I believe the price we finally agreed to reflected a fair price for the roof-work required. GWS' numerous industry accreditation gave me comfort that the company was reputable and would provide a good level of service. The on-site workers were prompt in starting the working day, professional, respectful and courteous throughout. Whilst the roof-work took a little longer than anticipated, it was thorough and of good quality. They ensured the skylight was clear of dirt and dust regularly and, upon completion, they left the roof and property in a clean state. I would recommend GWS for anyone wanting to instruct a reputable roofing company for good quality roof-work and I would certainly instruct GWS again in future. A few weeks after the roof job was completed the newly installed gutter began leaking. GWS sent a team round within a week of notice and repaired the leak. I was pleased with how professional and prompt they were in addressing the minor fault.

His expertise was very useful and everyone was prompt, communicative and thoroughly professional from start to finish. It was really useful to receive the quote with options for what could be done versus what needs to be done and the costs involved. GWS gave an honest assessment of the work that needed to be done on the dormer windows, and of the options open to me. I felt their quote was fair and they were efficient and reliable. They kept me advised of the timing and what work would be done when, and stuck to their schedule. They were also extremely pleasant to deal with, and very helpful generally. The job description was to recover a flat roof to specifications and to replace a rainwater pipe which required access to a neighbouring property and the use of scaffolding. We were happy with the way the work was completed and the ongoing communication with the team at GWS. There were problems to overcome such as the access to the neighbouring property needing good communication with the owners who lived away from the area. The Covid-19 crisis also caused a few problems, such as the supply of certain materials, but this resulted in limited delay and perfectly acceptable under the circumstances. Easy contact with the office management providing good lines of communication. Good attention to detail and work came within budget - a very satisfactory contract completed.
