I’m really pleased with the work Fred and Jack at LA Carpentry did for me. They fitted my kitchen, organised the electrics, and installed a new fire door, all to a really high standard. They were professional, tidy, and reliable throughout, and the finish is excellent. Communication was clear and they took real care with the details. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and would definitely use them again.
I had 4 coal bunker hardwood doors made to measure requested from LA Carpentry and Refurbishment Ltd. The doors don’t fit and immediately warped, 1 doesn’t open and 3 don’t close. LAC told me I would have to pay extra for any fixes and that they would send the debt for the remaining bill to a debt collector/solicitor which they have done. I have a report from a carpentry expert witness who says the doors are not fit for purpose. ‘Images 001 in appendix 5 is the internal elevation photograph of one of the 4 doors showing how all four have been incorrectly constructed.'

Was pleased with overall work completed. when he left property it was noted he had not secured drawers to runners. Carpenter punctual, pleasant cleaned up after self.Main down side - job did not cost what I was originally quoted £160. Told on day if paying by card it would be with 20% VAT, Carpenter had option of using off street parking on drive or purchase parking permission ticket from machine at end of road. He chose neither option and allegedly reported receiving parking fine to which he charged me for. No proof received upon my request to carpenter or company.

Jack and his team rehung and restored 4 sash windows for me and was so impressed with the quality of work. Clean finish, gave me advice on how to reduce road noise and made a huge difference. Very prompt with the turn around from enquiry and carrying out the work. Found them really easy to work with and at a fair price. We have just moved and getting them in to do work there too.

Recommended to me by a neighbour. Job was building bookcases and shelves and also planing a couple of doors and rehanging, they organised to come over and and measure up the job and seemed like stand up guys. We booked in for them coming over the following Fridayto hang the doors and come back with prices for the bigger jobs. I stayed at home that day. They never showed up. Both guys didn’t make contact and explain why they didn’t come and haven’t picked the phone on either mobile or landline since. Emails not responded. A month on I’ve given up. A frustrating waste of time.

After contact on 3 March, site visits and phone/email conversations gave confidence to proceed. We agreed a firm start date of 4 July. On 6 June LA Carpentry requested a later start date of 11 July. This did not fit our very specific plans, hence the long notice period. They agreed to keep the 4 July start date. On 29 June, 3 working days before the firm start date, LA Carpentry said a job had overrun, and a bereavement had taken one of their team out of action, they could start on 25 July. 2 days elapsed before email and voicemail were responded to. Apologetic, but no use for committed dates.
