“Reliable Builders undertook a full house refurbishment including loft conversion at my mid terraced house. The works included full strip out, structural modifications, carpentry and plastering. Alex and his team were extremely knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Attention to detail was excellent under very little supervision. We were very pleased with the finished product and would most definitely recommend their services.”

Alex?s expertise was invaluable during the planning phase, helping me understand the sequence of works before starting. Once on site, him and the team were punctual, tidy and efficient. We would highly reccomended Alex and the Reliable Builders team. They have worked on 3 projects over the last 4 years - one internal project where they transformed our house by implementing a traditional staircase with a huge opening, the next was an external patio on different levels with sleeper surrounds, and finally a new double garage and extension of our driveway. The team are brilliant - honest, respectful, hardworking and get the job done - on time and within budget, every time.

Reliable sums it up
Alex and his team laid a patio area which needs to be level (for a greenhouse) - and it completely is. They also rebuilt some patio steps which had been botched by a previous builder. Then they came back really quickly when we'd realised that we needed the patio to be slightly bigger. They were very punctual, very polite and the work was completed to a high quality.
Paving 6m x 5m plus groundworks
Alex and his team were punctual, polite and a pleasure to employ. The work was completed on time and within budget. The additional work, which he'd advised I completed, was done quickly and without fuss. OK so Alex was right he was the professional I should have listened to him. He wasn't the cheapest quote but the way he impressed me was to listen and not tell me what I wanted. You get what you pay for and I did, a quality job and a professional team.

Emergency floor levelling having been let down by another tradesman!
Having been let down at the last minute by another flooring tradesman, Alex was our knight in shining armour. We had fitted Low Pro underfloor heating & required self levelling compound before the kitchen fitters were arriving early the following week (our original tradesman knew how time critical the work was & had been booked in for almost a month!!) I ordered the materials required & Alex turned up the following day. Primer coat done & then levelling compound. I was very impressed with the regular communication from Alex, his honesty & his reassurance that everything would be ok. He was thorough, tidy & kept to his quote. I would definitely recommend using The Reliable Builders and will for sure consider using them for any other work we do on the future

Large Patio Fitted
I love these builders. 5 years ago, they saved our bacon after getting stung by a cowboy builder. They turned our sad and broken shell of a house into something liveable in 2 weeks. We naturally had them back for our patio build. In a world of (mostly) unreliable, unresponsive, lazy and inconsiderate builders, these guys are an anomaly. Alex (the main man) is straight talking and very honest and will tell you if want you want is feasible or not and if not, then he suggests practical and cost- effective solutions. For example, when he quoted for our I had some ‘great’ ideas which may have looked good but could have led to damp occurring in our house over time. Alex explained what was wrong with my plans and suggested we put a load of drainage channels in which would have protected the house and turned to be a lot cheaper than what I proposed. He also reused some materials from our existing patio which looked great and was a bit easier on the wallet. They turn up when they say they will turn up. They turn up on time and are courteous and tidy up after themselves. They are probably not the cheapest, but not the most expensive (why would you ever want the cheapest builders anyway?!?!) and have added some extras for free, which is always nice. Highly recommended and we will use them again this year for some rendering work.

Renovation & Extension of Victorian house
Alex & his team worked at our home over a 6-month period from late 2023 to mid-2024. The job involved a rear & side ground floor extension to our Victorian home along with a comprehensive ground floor renovation to create a large open plan kitchen-lounge-dining space, downstairs toilet and hallway. Right from the initial quote I felt Alex’s approach & communication were honest, reasonable and detailed. Costs & payment dates were clearly structured, extras (of which I requested several) were fairly addressed. I found the work to be of a high quality and am certainly happy to recommend them.

Alex was very communicative throughout the whole process of replastering and repairing sections of plaster in our house. He provided a reasonable quote quickly and arranged for the work to start. His workers were extremely efficient, respectful and tidied up after themselves while taking care to protect our furniture and belongings. They also filled a number of other small cracks that we hadn't even noticed previously. Thanks so much!

Rendering rendered very well
Excellent service from Alex and his team. They are very busy and work could only start a few months after assessment and pricing, but the estimated start date was spot-on. The rendering itself was problematic because of the nature of historic rendering, so it was a lengthier job removing the existing rendering and replacing and reconstructing some degraded brickwork. Alex liaised frequently and ensured we could see what were the problems and what would happen each day. The team themselves worked assiduously and for long hours, sometimes in semi-darkness, to ensure they finished before Xmas. And the outcome? The facade now looks great. Marginal snags with one of the windows: quickly resolved but we were asked to withhold full payment until they were resolved. That really was good customer service. So the headlines are: excellent advice and on-going liaison; hard-working and tidy team on site; unexpected problems resolved effectively; completion on time; fair price and very good value for money. Reliable Builders are a pleasure to work with.

Great from start to finish. It was a relatively small job for them I’d imagine, but they were in constant communication about what was needed and gave us good advice on how to solve ventilation issues. He broke down his quote so we could pick which bits we wanted to do. Then was flexible with us when we found issues along the way - suggesting solutions and resolving it in a way we were happy with. Work completed to a high standard. Also would stay to get things finished in a day rather than leave at 3pm, as other builders we used would. Meant it finished bang on time. Would not use anyone else now. Excellent throughout.

Single storey rear extension
Right from the word go Alex and the team have been great! In the early stages, Alex was very helpful in the discussions with the architect. During the building work, the builders were very tidy with their work and it was completed on time within the initial quoted 4 months to a high standard. We had two young children at the time and the kids were excited to get waves and smiles from the builders each morning which made the disruption of building work much easier to manage. We would certainly recommend them to anyone having an extension done

Loft conversion and side extension
I cannot speak highly enough of Alex and his team. The project undertaken was extensive, a loft conversion, remodelling of the first floor, side extension and underfloor heating installation. Everything was completed to a high standard, within the agreed budget for each part of the project. As with any project of this scale, snags happened. Even months after the work was completed any issue that has arisen has been quickly rectified. I would not hesitate to use their services again.

External and Internal Repairs and Renovation
I’m very happy from my overall experience with Reliable Builders. It helped to receive an itemised quote which tracked as expected as work progressed. Extensive photos from the roof work ‘before, during and completed,’ provided reassurance. All work was completed to a high standard and they offered advice and solutions for damp issues and to hide a problematic internal water meter. The team are polite, clean & tidy and clearly made progress each day. I have recommended Reliable Builders to neighbours & friends & will be contacting them again in future for other building work. High quality extension from genuinely committed and caring people
Can’t rate Reliable Builders any higher. Put simply they did what they say they would do, to a high standard, and with great care for our house and our family. We had an extension to expand our kitchen and dining room and add a utility and downstairs bathroom. Alex quoted us a really good price, started quickly, and worked with us throughout to make the new rooms amazing. Even our neighbours have been round to compliment the quality of the extension and in particular the brickwork. Can’t thank Alex and his team enough and they are top of the list for any future work we need.

Basement conversion
Alex gave us a competitive quote and indeed was willing to take on work others weren't keen to do (sorting out a previously botched job). He was knowledgeable, personable and straightforward to deal with and we liked the team of builders very much. Friendly but not intrusive bearing in mind we both work from home. Very good finish. There were invariably extras but it was always clear why and what we were paying for (buildings regs compliance). Some things were thrown in. The snagging has been completed and we've moved into the space. We're about to ask him to quote for another big job.

Extension for new bathroom
I hired Alex and his team to build a bathroom downstairs as an extension to my house. Alex is reliable and professional. His team are punctual and extremely hard working. We encountered a few unforeseeable snags once building work commenced, this meant the job took much longer than originally planned. With that said all issues were dealt with thoroughly and meticulously in order to make sure the entire job was finished professionally and adhering to all required regulations. I am delighted with the end result and would recommend Alex and his team without hesitation.
