Highlights

I needed to have two doors shaved after a new carpet was fitted. I researched local joiners and contacted Ryan. The first thing I noticed was Ryan's communication skills - he was really polite and came across as a great people person. He attended my house, shaved both doors to a really high standard and also resolved an issue I had with a snapped screw stuck in a tile. Superb service. Will definitely use Ryan again. Highly recommended.

Ryan supplied and fitted us a door today at the bottom of our loft stairs. The job was completed quickly but to a very high standard.

Paul Morton5.0 / 5 ·

Used RF Joinery for a large Garden decking area. Job was done in 2 days rather than the three quoted. The job was completed to a very high standard and priced very reasonably. I would not hesitate to recommend RF Joinery to my friends and family.

Fantastic service from Ryan. As a remote landlord, finding trusted tradesmen to act in your interests when you're not present it hard. Ryan has gone out of this way to be helpful and informative. Fairly priced and excellent service.

Ryan was hired to replace a hardwood front door frame and door. Whilst a very pleasant and friendly guy I'm afraid the standard of finish/ attention to detail is not what I would expect from a professional joiner. On closer inspection of the job after Ryan had left I found that there were large gaps around the hinge cut outs in the expensive hardwood frame and the door was not even flush with the frame and in fact wasn't even touching the weather seals. With the door closed you can feel a gale blowing through it and it's obviously not weather tight either, as we found out to our cost yesterday during the rain, as we now have a big puddle on the floor in our entrance hall. Having let Ryan know I wasn't happy with the finish, he informed me that there had been a problem with the seals on the frame (they'd been too hard and meant it wouldn't close) hence why he set the door further back and not flush, but none of this was mentioned at the time of fitting (or alternatives suggested like changing the seals which are readily available from most DIY stores) and it was visibly obvious that the door wasn't sealing when he left the job but said nothing which is extremely disappointing. In addition, other small things like the frame was cut by handsaw rather than chop saw to ensure precise and accurate cuts. The frame wasn't glued together when fitting to add strength and prevent any potential water ingress in the joints. Saw gouge marks were left in the sill from where he'd cut the threshold strip. The weather bar on the door has been cut short so that rain leaks in at the corners, all things that whilst not terrible are not the sort of standards I expect from a professional with a good attention to detail. I appreciate this review is in contrast to other reviews here so I have either been unlucky or the standards other expect are not what mine are, but I feel the quality of the job I received was more that of an odd job man/property maintenance rather than a specialist joiner. I am now going to have to spend time remedying this myself or pay to have another "professional" sort it which is extremely annoying/disappointing.

Ryan fitted skirting boards in our dining room and has done a very neat job. The floor is uneven in places but he worked around this to give a great finish.

Tom Bell5.0 / 5 ·

Last week Ryan came round to fit some skirting boards for us. He was very friendly and helpful both when coming round to quote and when coming to do the work. When quoting, he brought a catalogue with him so I could choose which skirting boards I required which I found very useful. He was very tidy and cleared up all his rubbish. During the work he explained any problems he was having (plasterer leaving me with walls that weren't flat! ), but he was able to overcome them and left a brilliant finish ready for us to paint. Would definitely recommend him and will be using him again in future.

Ella Morton5.0 / 5 ·

RJ Joinery supplied and fitted me a new fence. When Ryan came out to price up the job he explained exactly what materials he would be using and provided a written quote so I knew exactly what I was paying for. On the day of the job the weather was horrendous and I did wonder if he would turn up but he did and he worked through the rain. They were professional and worked tirelessly the whole day and part of the following day to get the job done. I would have no problem recommending them and would definitely use again if I needed any work doing.

Steve Burgin5.0 / 5 ·

This is the second time Ryan has done some work for me. This time he fitted an external door complete with door furniture and a cat flap. His work is excellent; he explained what he was doing and why, gave me some great advice about finishing the door and left the work area clean and tidy. I would recommend him without reservation.

Wooden fence fitted today. All done on time and all the plants survived! No hesitation in recommending Richard.

Selected RF joinery after posting a job for a joiner. Please ensure you have everything written down and agree a price. Really disappointed with attitude (constant complaint re other workmen) and very expensive for job - purely because nothing was written down so it became easy to misunderstand requirements. He talks a lot about customer satisfaction but in all honesty I don't think he actually understands what that means.

Reply from the business

Unfortunatley for miss crossland we have lots of happy customers to prove that i know exactly what customer satisfaction is and have achived this many times! I am very confused with miss crossland as after the fist time working for her she was happy with the prices and work done, i even got her an electrician to fit 2 double sockets on a wall that the cowboys she had in previously told her it could not be done, also posted a 5 star review . The second time miss crossland accepted the price for fitting skirting and architrave, when carring out the work i pointed out some bad plastering work that was just done and you could get your fingers down the back of skirting when i put it on! When i pointed this out miss crossland started shouting at me saying all you tradesmen are just the same blaming each other and so on so i said lets agree to disagree i finished the works agreed, gave miss crossland £20 back as good will because she thought was fitting a handrail in with the price but i stated that if i had time i may get it done in the same day but not for the same money, then i left saying sorry your not happy but in my eyes done nothing more than try and help out finish a job that she had been ripped off on by cowboys.

Ryan was friendly and professional and explained exactly what he was going to do to complete my job which he did to a high standard. He put my furniture back for me and cleaned up which was a bonus and I would definitely use him again in the future if need be :-).

We used RF Joinery for a house refurb recently. Was very happy with the quality of the work and found them to be very personable. We'll be using them again on our future projects.

Just one word brilliant work, if you want somebody to come to your house, who is hard working, reliable and has great attention to detail, you need rf joinery, he didn't even want drinks making he just got struck straight in, iv now booked him for another job I need doing, he also is very very tidy and clears everything up as he goes along, he also explains everything as he goes along and the best way to deal with problems if they pop up, you wont go wrong having rf joinery.
