Good record, gaps to check

54 out of 100, with a caution: only 3 reviews held yet. A small public record keeps the evidence thin, and the score reflects that.

Detailed reviews

If you are looking for a courteous, reliable, friendly and expert roofer, then I cannot recommend Simon and his team enough. I had met with a few roofing companies as my entire roof needed to be re-battened (rotten) with a completely new felt membrane. Si was extremely quick to respond to my questions, visited the property and did a thorough review. He explained in detail what work would need to be done and offered a good price. His communication throughout was impeccable and the team arrived on time and just cracked on! My absolute go-to for any future roofing or building work.

Simon and the team were diligent, efficient and well priced. Had communication the entire way through the process and no question I had was unanswered. Can’t fault the work and service! Will be recommending Scrivener Roofing and Building to friends for years to come!

Simon and the team were professional, trustworthy and fantastic at communicating updates. They discussed with me first anything potential changes and always had my best interest in mind - the total cost of the work was exact to the quote and very reasonable! Nice and tidy afterwards and very polite ❤️ thanks again Simon will be recommending to friends and family

Roofing isn't licensed, so anyone can set up - and it's a trade with more than its share of cowboys. A big re-roof must meet building regulations; CompetentRoofer (the Government-authorised NFRC scheme) registers roofers who can self-certify that, and vets and inspects them at least twice a year. Check they're on it before you hire.

Check the CompetentRoofer register
Never agree to roof work from a cold-caller at your door or an unsolicited 'we noticed your roof' note. That is the classic roofing scam.
Get a written quote that itemises access (scaffolding or a tower), the exact materials, and the workmanship guarantee, not a vague day rate.
Be wary of demands for a large cash deposit; agree staged payments against work you can actually see completed.
