Highlights

Simon has been tending my garden for over a year now and I fully endorse all the comments made by other reviewers. He is an excellent gardener - very knowledgeable, reliable and friendly. I particularly appreciated all the advice he gave me this summer when choosing shrubs for areas that needed re-planting.

Great service

Following an initial visit to discuss our requirements in May 2018, Simon took us to a garden center and helped us select the most appropriate plants for our near-empty garden following a kitchen extension. He then planted them out, showing good judgement and an eye for design, and he gave us comprehensive aftercare advice, which was very helpful. The results were transformational and we are very happy with our new jungle garden. It is still flourishing, despite a challenging summer drought, and we would not hesitate to recommend Simon.

Expertise without exception

Simon has worked for us on a regular basis over several years and we would have no hesitation in recommending his services. He is hard working, skilful and knowledgeable on all aspects of outdoor work and gardening, having studied at horticultural college in these fields. He has a pleasant and helpful manner. We have a 1 1/2 acre garden with many trees, shrubs and plants and he has successfully put all his experience to the test. He is fully committed to satisfying his customers.

Which? Local Review

Simon has been coming to help me with my unruly garden for the last year and it is now in a better state than it has ever been. I have tried many other gardeners over the years; none were anywhere near as good. Simon is very thorough and careful, never objects to doing the hard slog, always asks if he's not sure, works the full time and always clears up. He is easy to garden alongside, interested and helpful, ready to tackle anything. I recommend him without reservation.

What to check before you hire

Worth checking yourself
Only a few public reviews are shown. Ask for recent references you can contact.
Their public evidence comes from a single source. Look them up on another site before deciding.
Get an itemised quote that separates plants and materials, any machinery or skip hire, and labour. A vague 'garden makeover' lump sum hides where the money goes and makes extra charges easy to add later.
Be wary of paying a large sum up front 'for materials'. Agree staged payments against work you can see completed, especially for hard landscaping like patios, decking, paving or driveways.
Tree work and anything near a boundary can be regulated. Protected trees and conservation areas often need permission, and removing a protected tree can be an offence. Confirm what is allowed, and that they carry public-liability insurance, before work starts.
