His quote was competitive and he communicated well with me: at the point of quoting, whilst the job was being undertaken, and when works were completed. His contractors came on the agreed day and works were undertaken quickly and very efficiently, despite the tenants being less than helpful in enabling this. “I contacted UK Mould Removal for help with removing black mould from the walls and ceiling of a house in Croydon that had been empty for some time. I found the company via Which Trusted Traders. Paul visited the premises within 24 hours and provided a clear report of the work required, the cost and the time scale. The work was carried out in a timely fashion and to a very high standard. The results are even better than hoped for - clean walls and ceiling with no visible trace of mould left, nor the awful smell. Even more importantly, we know the kitchen no longer poses a health hazard.”
“Paul was polite, reliable and efficient from the first point of contact. They attended the property and produced a written report and quote and then carried out the work as agreed. UK Mould Removal thoroughly got rid of the mould in my bedroom and after that repainted the room without causing too much disruption. I'm very pleased with the work they did and would highly recommend them. They left my place clean and tidy, they were also very friendly and professional.

My name is "Mouldy" Paul. I have retired once, but set up this business primarily for my son, Peter. Trained by The National Flood School to adhere to IICRC regulations (only internationally recognised course) on how to remove damp and mould, in accordance to Health and Safety and COSSH. Peter has attended training by myself and attended courses on damp removal. Accredited by Safecontractor and SMAS to PAS 91 level, but the accreditation we hold with Which? is one we are most proud of. Peter does the mould removal along side my niece. My wife assists with painting and my cousin also being involved in the business, makes it truly a family affair. We have contracts with countless letting agencies, housing associations and even a museum. We offer free site surveys (within one hour drive from Croydon) and for those further away, we ask for images to assess the cost. We offer detailed reports on why mould exists and recommendations on how to prevent mould returning, all free of charge.

Check they're a PCA member before you accept a damp-treatment quote.
Check the PCA registerGet an INDEPENDENT damp survey, not a free one from the firm that wants to sell you the treatment. A free survey has every incentive to diagnose expensive 'rising damp', when the problem is often condensation, a leak, or high ground level that needs no chemical injection.
Insist they identify and fix the underlying CAUSE (a leak, blocked airbricks, poor ventilation, failed pointing) before agreeing to an injected damp-proof course, and ask them to explain why simpler fixes won't work.
Get the diagnosis and an itemised quote in writing, and be wary of pressure to sign on the spot for a long 'guarantee' that is only worth anything while that firm is still trading.
