AVOID THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN A STANDARD WINDOW REPLACEMENT
We used this company to remove a wide window and replace it with bifold doors. We were initially very pleased with the install of the doors and the cladding, but our real cause for concern began when we asked Michael to supply FENSA certificates for the doors. He said these would be issued after the final instalment was paid. We settled in full, but we never received the certificates and Michael was by now ignoring our calls and messages. We eventually escalated the matter to FENSA, who contacted Michael on our behalf, and he eventually advised us that he couldn’t provide FENSA certificates as the aperture had been altered and reinforced and that the Council’s Building Control Department should have inspected the work. AT NO POINT, from the day we were quoted for the work to the date it was finished in January 2025, did VL Windows advise us of this. We contacted Building Control who advised us an inspecton would cost about £500. We argued that we should have been advised about this at the time of installation and that VL Windows should be responsible for at least half of the cost. Finally, we approached Which Trusted Trader who liaised with V L Windows on our behalf. they agreed to contribute 50% to the cost. Unfortunately, when the surveyor came round, he could not carry out an inspection as the surround had been reboarded and redecorated. We now have to cut holes in the plasterboard to expose the flitch beam and supports so the surveyor can approve the work.
