About
We work with homeowners, rural landowners and developers to unlock the full potential of their property. We solve the challenges of many building types - new and old - with a particular passion and expertise in the creative reuse, retrofit and conversion of historic buildings. We design sensitive additions, skilful interventions and distinctive developments to create homes and workplaces that support our 21st century lifestyles and sustainability goals. Our work comprises bespoke family homes, residential developments, and rural diversification involving the change of use of heritage assets often within sensitive settings. We have also undertaken projects for offices, stables, museums, churches, and community buildings. Through our conversion expertise, we have worked on a vast range of building types from small granaries to complex Victorian asylums. We thrive on an exciting mix of diverse projects with a passion for great architecture. Our work together over twenty years has been recognised at the highest national levels, including RIBA Awards and short-listing in the Crown Estate Award, one of the RIBA’s highest conservation honours celebrated alongside the Stirling Prize. Allan Woodfield and Kevin Brady are both RIBA Chartered Architects. We are an RIBA Chartered Practice, committed to excellence in design and customer service. At each stage of the process we are mindful of the project budget and, through continuous interrogation of the design, strive to deliver added value, identifying hidden and often exciting opportunities. Our approach to every project commences with a thorough analysis of the site together with the client brief, budget, and programme. We identify the specific site constraints and opportunities enabling fresh and innovative solutions that are rooted in the unique context of every location. We embrace a holistic approach to sustainability from the outset, harnessing passive energy measures before active technologies wherever possible. We believe that the success of any project is reliant on a regular dialogue with the client. Our role is to listen to and interpret the client’s initial brief and aspirations, and to encourage their ongoing involvement throughout the project process. Communication is key to understanding the development of any design, and we utilise a wide variety of media from sketches to computer-generated images to assist this process.
