Active incorporated business
Allerton Damp Proofing is linked to a Companies House entry. This shows the business registration, not evidence of workmanship or service quality.
Why this helps you judge trust: this trader is linked to a registered company with named people who are legally accountable for it, on an official register anyone can check, a layer of accountability an unregistered trader doesn't offer. Around 40 years on the register also points to an established business rather than a brand-new one.

Highlights
“Had potential issue with damp course causing water in the house. Roxanne in office was very helpful and I was offered an appointment within 24hrs, brought forward to the same day due to a cancellation. Nathaniel, the surveyor, called me to discuss issue before arrival, briefed by office on property, then did internal and external investigation. He talked me through the whole process and what he did and didn't find, giving me confidence in the outcome. The issue wasn't the damp course so further work wasn't needed but customer service, speed, and responsiveness were excellent.”

A very mixed experience. I was left with an impression that the tradesmen were tasked with doing the job as quickly as possible regardless of the standard of the work. This inevitably means some tasks were not of an acceptable standard. It appears that many of the tradesmen were not actually employed by the company but the work is subcontracted, which again means jobs are rushed. One job was left in a poor state. Payment is required in advance owing to the fact that 'we are a small company'. Very disappointing.
Avoid this company at all costs! Agreed a price with us, asked we pay £7k upfront then 2 days into the job tried adding another £4k onto the bill for what they claimed was "unforeseeable additional works" when we refused to pay they pulled their team off site and left our home like a building site with rubble, exposed electrics etc refusing to return unless we paid more immediately. In desperation we called another Damp Proof specialist to whom I'm eternally grateful because despite being really busy they came to help us and were appalled at how ADP had left us. Do not trust this company.

About this business
What to check before you hire
Damp and timber work isn't licensed in the UK, and "rising damp" is often over-diagnosed - so a real qualification matters. Property Care Association members hold recognised damp-surveying qualifications (CSRT/CSSW), follow a code of ethics and must have traded at least three years. Check they're a PCA member before you accept a damp-treatment quote.
