I was trying to create a new family kitchen in a country property in a room made by knocking two together. I knew elements of what I wanted but I was really struggling with a combination salesey kitchen shops, all my ideas, clippings from magazines and an utter lack of time to try and put together all my ideas. A friend recommended David and he was a lifesaver. He listened, he was practical, he helped pull all my ideas together, he was calm, he was both efficient and patient. He handled all the measurements and the layout, he got in competitive quotes for me, he helped on pricing management he managed suppliers for me and coordination with trades. I recommend David Aldrich extremely highly.

David designed and managed my kitchen revamping. He worked with me to think about my particular needs, big and small when designing the kitchen. He was creative in finding ways for my kitchen to work best for me and the results were truely life changing. I am now able to be independent in the kitchen despite being a wheelchair user. Works were completed on time and stress free as David coordinated everything from tradespeople to deliveries of appliances. If you want to do all the hard work yourself and know exactly how to coordinate a kitchen extension and refit then you don’t need David. If, on the other hand you see the benefit in working with someone who knows their way around all the interconnected details of planning an extension and a new kitchen, thinks of all the things you wouldn’t have, can advise on what things are worth spending money on and what things are not, will source and coordinate planners, builders, suppliers, architects etc etc then David is your man. David takes his job very seriously, is conscientious and accountable, holds other suppliers to account and gets the job done with good humour throughout all the twists and turns. A pleasure to work with and for us - well worth the investment for all the ways he helped us save money and think of all the right details.

David is an extremely patient man. We changed our minds several times over the months he was designing our kitchen, and he accepted each change with patience. He is experienced and knowledgeable about the products and services involved in kitchen construction. Importantly, David engaged kitchen constructers who were very pleasant to work with and very skilled. He introduced us to suppliers of most of the kitchen components. David was recommended to us when we were considering an extension and complete renovation of our home. We decided to work with him to plan our kitchen within the extension and the creation of a dressing room off of the master bedroom. His attention to detail was impressive and the VR presentation really helped us see what our new spaces could look like. He created the drawings and worked closely with the builder and architect to make sure everything went to plan. He was excellent at spotting potential problems and coming up with creative solutions. He also helped us source lighting and came with us to find the worktops we wanted. He has been very responsive in resolving snagging problems, even things which were not strictly his domain. We have no hesitation in recommending him.

VR demo), product sourcing/procurement and project management Feedback: David went above and beyond with this project, helping us at every stage and through the significant complications created by Covid-19. His knowledge and experience was evident throughout, identifying potential problems and pitfalls of different design considerations. The VR demo was extremely useful to visualise the final design, particularly for a project with such significant changes. David was very hands-on (e.g. going to kitchen and tiles shops) and managed the communication with multiple contractors. In respect to budget, David helped us to balance the inevitable trade-offs that come up in any project. Overall, we would highly recommend David for his design and project management services.

I contracted David Aldrich to help me design a kitchen which would transform my family home. The kitchen was to be installed in what had been the sitting room. I had a clear idea of the elements that I wanted - such as a breakfast bar, an area for food preparation that would allow at least two people to work simultaneously, maximum storage, an optimisation of the light in the room and more. David helped me to find the best layout, with the most storage. I was so pleased with how we worked together and the value that he added, that I contracted him to help source the cabinetry, advice me on the white goods & supervise the build. It was a great success. He is very easy to work with, he listens well to the brief and explains things clearly. The issues that arose were dealt with well. I would recommend him strongly.

We engaged David Aldrich Design to help optimise the space in our three storey town house. David developed some really creative solutions to make the most out of our existing space, and we are now getting much better use of our home, in a space where the family can grow up comfortably. We are delighted with the way David worked with us to really understand our needs, and he integrated really well with us through all parts of the process. David also takes the hassle out of the design and planning work, as well as the actual building work, by listening to our requirements and coming up with great solutions in the first iteration, helping to source materials at a good price through his existing network, sourcing building contractors and not least, being that central point of contact throughout the build. David has kept in touch after the project finished to make sure everything has turned out to our satisfaction, and stepped in to manage a post-project warranty issue. We would not hesitate to recommend David; his designs, creative solutions and quality finishes are excellent, and most importantly, he cares about doing a great job.

David designed and managed the creation of a kitchen-diner from two rooms and the conversion of a cold unused space into a cosy library/study. He listened to our needs and ideas and gave us what we wanted... and more, with useful 3D computer generated pictures/plans. His skill with cabinetry design and construction is excellent and can be seen in both the kitchen units and library shelving and cupboards. He kept a constant eye on the quality of the project; his designs and drawings making the tradesmen's jobs clear. He advised on lighting, sourcing items and colours without ever taking control away from us. I am writing this after a year's use of the rooms - I am still struck by how elegant and practical they are, and every day small elements are delightfully pleasing.

David helped us redo our kitchen. Complicated as it was a remodel of the entire ground floor of our home to make open plan and involved combining our dining room, entrance hall and kitchen into one space. David came up with a few designs that we could choose from to suit our style and taste aided by fantastic 3D software and virtual reality. Also helped us get through the Building Regs complications of changing walls. David helped source quality fixtures and fittings, from cupboards and appliances, work tops and even taps! Detailed understanding of pricing and quality and struck the appropriate balance for. Always had our budget in mind which we worked to. Also a useful tie-break between my wife and I in decisions! Very hands on project management through the 2 month build, helped coordinate various contractors and ensured work was being done to a top quality standard. Contractor recommendations from David also fantastic. It was a tight timetable and at fairly short notice and overall kept within the time frame or advised well in advance of complications. At first a little concerned paying a "premium" price for his services that perhaps my wife and I could muddled through, but throughout the project, it proved absolutely worth it and think that we clawed back a significant cost in time, efficiency, right product selection (saved money) and a successful project.

We were given David’s name by friends who had recommended his work and we were not disappointed. We had three rooms to reconfigure in the project; kitchen, utility room and toilet. From the outset David’s project management was professional, well informed and helpful in every aspect of design, commissioning and implementation. We are really pleased with the result and have commissioned him again for our master bedroom.

After extensive research we settled on using the services of David Aldrich Designs. This proved to be an excellent choice and well worth the cost. David was extremely pleasant to work with and was most innovative, producing a brilliantly designed kitchen of the highest quality. His contractor, selected after joint consultation, was excellent as were all the tradesmen involved. We would not hesitate to consult David again.

David was fantastic to work with right from the beginning to the end of the project. Nothing was too much trouble. Always on hand when required and his project management skills were invaluable when I had a few challenges with the builders. He was very pleasant to work with and always came up with good ideas and was conscious of cost and helped source many goods for me at reduced prices. My project was completed during the summer months whilst I was on holiday and David found a solution to water the plants when the automatic watering system broke. He was very thoughtful and would go the extra mile to help in anyway he could even when the problem was not in the project brief. I would recommend David without hesitation and he is already working on a project for my sister following my recommendation and the outcome of my project.

We instantly knew that we needed to hire David when in his initial consultation he made an off the cuff suggestion that completely changed how we were looking at our kitchen. He worked closely with us to ensure we would have a new space that worked for what we needed and which would look beautiful. Because he doesn't work for any one company he was able to provide suggestions of kitchen units and worktops that matched our style and made the most of our budget, and he did all this while visiting us at home around our work schedules. He organised builders quotes without us having to be there and did everything possible to make the process as painless for us as he could. Once the project started his assistance as a project manager was invaluable - we had serious issues with the builders (which were our choice, not his - a mistake on our part!) but he really went above and beyond to make sure that their work was carried out to the correct standard - which involved repeatedly insisting things were re-done. Thanks to the builders the process was very stressful, but it would have been a million times more so if not for David, and thanks to him we now have a beautiful, functional kitchen that we love using.

We were delighted with the service David gave us. Nothing was too much trouble and he was exceptionally patient with us as we evolved our ideas, even though it meant drawing up new plans. He was always at hand when we needed him and he took away a lot of the stress by managing the project throughout. Our original idea for a new kitchen turned into a redesign of the ground floor with a new configuration of the hall, which enabled us to accommodate a utility room. We are extremely happy with the result.
