Emily's details were passed onto me by a fellow tenant of the building. Emily agreed to come and look at the flat and give a quote. Emily gave a very detailed quote, broken down room by room so it was really clear what I would be paying for. Emily was very flexible about me adding to the initial quote some extra bits I wanted to get done. The decorating was carried out to a high standard and I am delighted with the results. I can very happily strongly recommend Emily, she was on time to visit for the quote and to pick up keys. She did all the work she said she was going to do, in the timelines she said she would, for the price she quoted. Emily was also a pleasure to deal with throughout and was very helpful in facilitating a couple of trips for the plumber while I had vacated the flat for her to decorate.

Painting and decorating carried out with professionalism, care and flair

We were very impressed with Emily and Penny's work from the tendering through to execution . Great care was taken in repairing surfaces, choosing colours, and talking about options. Quality, reliable, professional, personable company - highly recommend

Em and Penny were absolute professionals. From the point of competitive quotation, arranging a scaffolding firm, clearly specified scope, to managing timeline expectations they were spot on. Then when completing the work they were reliable, professional, personable, flexible and the work was great quality. There were no surprises and it was managed very well. The job was to paint the exterior of a Victorian building, converted to three individual flats, including some repair work. All three independent flat holders were in agreement for this positive review. The team were an absolute pleasure to deal with, we highly recommend and would certainly use again for any relevant jobs.

Best painters in all of London

I was about to limit their brilliance to North London but I've decided to extend the geographical range, as one of the painters lives in South London. I have used English, Barrett & Gray several times now over the years, on two houses, and I cannot be more effusive in my praise. Speedy and friendly communications; detailed quotes which explain precisely what they intend to do; always punctual and following an agreed schedule; impeccable workmanship and an impressive understanding of the optimal types of paint for each wall... There is no job that Emily, Penny and Emma cannot handle without consummate authority and skill. My house looks incredible thanks to them. I will not have anyone else go near my walls. They are also fantastic company - quiet, discreet, hard-working, knowledgeable, humorous and dedicated to their profession. The finest in London.

Fantastic team, very professional throughout, really happy with the results

Emily, Emma and Penny were very professional from conducting the first quote to the final paint touches. They were always on-time and wore masks and proactively looked to all the wall surfaces and edges smoother, filling in all holes and cracks. They spotted things I hadn't even noticed and make them better, especially a big dent at the bottom of our bannister which they made perfect again. They were extremely organised throughout with a plan for when they aimed to move between rooms so that we could organise furniture in advance. We asked them to match the colours in our flat and we thought it would be difficult as the previous owners used an Italian paint that cannot be purchased in the UK but Emily and team found perfect matching paints and even procured samples first to make sure we were happy. As the flat came to life again, we made one or two tweaks from the original plan, deciding to paint the inside of some cupboards last minute and adding one new paint colour and Emily was always very accommodating. One of the rooms required removing the old wall paper and I am very impressed with the finish. All in all, lovely professional team with high standards and very communicative throughout. Thank you for giving us a new flat and something to be very positive about this year.

Excellent work - home decoration

Emily and her team re-decorated four rooms in our flat. They did an excellent job at every stage. They were prompt, well prepared and organised and gave us great advice for the redecoration. The paintwork in each room is excellent and they were very tidy and clean. We highly recommend English, Barrett & Gray!

Highly recommended

Emily and her team decorated my front room and hallway. The hallway was a big job - taking it from fresh plaster. Both jobs were done to a high standard. The team were polite, on time and incredibly tidy. They are true professionals. Will definitely have them back at some point in future.

Impeccably high standards

We have used English, Barrett & Gray for painting work on numerous occasions. Every time they've been charming, helpful, punctual, professional, efficient, and most importantly of all, produced work of the highest standard. Emily, Emma and the rest of the team are top professionals. They care about the results, they care about quality, they care about process, and they care about the client. At all times we have felt listened to and supported, and the room they have just completed has been transformed from tired and shabby to glowing and beautiful in mere days. Excellent work!

Everything went very smoothly in the complete redecoration of our small flat, from our first meeting with Emily to obtain a quote to the end of the job, which came in on time and on budget. We let Penny and her team in on Monday morning and then left them to it. We had complete confidence in leaving them with our keys. Emily kept in touch during the work, pointing out a problem with one ceiling but then having a "can-do" attitude to sorting it out. We couldn't recommend this team of pleasant and skilful women more highly.

Superseded expectations

Five people turned up on day 1 to start preparing and painting a hall and landings, kitchen and bathroom. Starting with Emily's visit and estimate, I was impressed by the professionalism and organisation of the team. Considerate, friendly and very skilled was my impression. A beautiful job done to a high standard..even extractor fans falling off walls unexpectedly did nothing to phase them! Regular updates regarding progress followed and I was kept well-informed about the details of the job. This team comes highly recommended and I was not disappointed.

It does not get better than this

We left Emily with our keys, went away, and expected every room of our flat to be repainted and perfect on our return. We were not disappointed. Emily and her colleagues are highly reliable and highly skilled. Their work is to the highest standard. You can confidently put yourselves in their hands.

We can't recommend this team enough!

Emily and her team redecorated nearly the entire interior of our house and were very adaptive and flexible - even when I changed my choice of paint at the last minute. They worked around a full house of people and were very accommodating. The work was done to an incredibly high standard and Emily and the rest of the team were very communicative throughout the entire process - we knew when they were planning to finish one room and start on the next. The work was completed within budget and Emily was happy to do a few extra things for us when we asked. Most notably, the team was lovely to have around the house. It's not always the most pleasant thing to share your house with other people for several weeks but they were fantastic to have in the house - cheerful, friendly, punctual and respectful. They also took care every evening to ensure that the house was swept and hoovered. I can't recommend this team enough - fantastic decorators and lovely to have around. They book far in advance but are absolutely worth the wait.

High quality, well priced work, punctually delivered

The team of four redecorated the exterior, front and back, of the house. We had a ten month wait for them but it was 100% worth it. They were punctual, well-organised and friendly, and worked quietly and cheerfully to a very high standard. They stayed within the budget, kept us informed of developments, cleaned up as they went along and left the site spotless. We would recommend them unreservedly.

Exterior decoration

Emily, Emma, Penny and the team did a terrific job decorating the outside of my rather neglected Victorian terrace. They stuck to their time estimate and budget, kept me fully informed of developments and work throughout. They turned up on time, tidied up after themselves and were a joy to have around. Most of all they did an excellent job. I would highly recommend.
