Highly recommended

I have had two jobs completed by Chris to date; the replacement of a side garage door, and the renovation of the surround of my up-and-over garage door. On both occasions, Chris has done an excellent job. He is skilled, punctual, professional, and friendly, and from my experience is someone who takes pride in doing a very good job for the customer. I highly recommend him, and believe that he will be my 'go-to guy' for any future jobs which require his skill set. I am very glad that I chose to trust a Which? recommended Tradesman.

So sad because I felt compelled to write this

I had Mr Rathbone to do a number of small jobs as well as soffits and fascia boards and providing and fitting new conservatory Upvc doors. Most of the work he did was of a good standard but I am very disappointed due to: 1. He gave me a quote via text in which it said total cost is £2660.00 and yet the final bill was £4.820.00. When I queried this sum it was because he didn't add the cost of the new conservatory doors and due to doing other small jobs around then house, eg. take out old cupboards from the kitchen, measure conservatory windows for blinds fix a door which wasn't shutting properly. 2. He gave me a scribbled invoice outlining the work we initially agreed that needed to be done with just the total sum of £4.800. I asked him on several occasions to let me have an itemised bill but never got one. 3. I visited the property in my short break when he handed me the invoice and went back to work. I finished work at 10 pm. I texted Mr. Rathbone and asked if I can pay him the following day. His reply was "I expect payment upon completion" I'll got out of bed and paid him. I told him I didn't even know he had finished as he just pushed the invoice in my hand as I was walking to my car. 4. The conservatory guttering is still leaking on the corners which was originally agreed. He assured me this was not a problem, but they are still leaking. He refused to come back as he had put some sealant on the joints he said. Blinds on the porch/conservatory were not fitted.

Leaking roof

Chris did an excellent job identifying/repairing leaks to our flat roof and velux windows and fitting a new internal window. He traced the problems, carried out the work efficiently and kept to his quote. We were impressed with his knowledge in relation to the work needed and would certainly use him again.

Professional job at a fair price

I contacted Chris at 'Home Trimmings' about my double-glazed windows that had become misty as a result of condensation. He responded to my message quickly and came to measure the windows at the day we had agreed. After a short while he came with his teammate and changed all the misty window panels quickly, professionally and in a tidy manner. He is type of person who takes pride in his work and ensures that the quality of his work is at a high standard. He is also a gentleman. He is friendly and fair when it comes to charging for the job. I highly recommend him and will call him again for any related work in the future.

New windows and doors.

We are very pleased with the work carried out by Chris's 'Home Trimmings'. Friendly and helpful from quoting to completion of the job. We were kept informed throughout having all windows and doors changed. The new doors and windows all look great and are a HUGE improvement on the old ones! Additional insulation work was also quoted and carried out while the scaffolding was in place too. Leaking bit of guttering also fixed! All old materials and mess was taken away on completion. He was very thorough finishing off snagging jobs at the end. We are very pleased and would happily go to Home Trimmings again! A superb job for a very reasonable price. Thank you Chris.

Quality of workmanship second to none

I have used Home Trimmings for over 12 years for replacement Windows, Doors and a Conservatory. The quality of the materials and the workmanship was always of the highest standard. I would not choose anyone else.

Leaking flat roof

Mr Rathbone was pleasant and reassuringly gave me a good solution to the leaky roof issues. He was honest, hard working and his analysis of the problem was thorough. He worked thoroughly to solve the problem. His work is very detailed and he is very knowledgeable. I am glad that l chose him to do the job. I will certainly ask him to do other jobs.

A dying breed!

It doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a fair job done for a fair price paid. In todays' world it seems it's almost impossible to find someone who is willing to carry out a good, fair job. Don't despair however they do exist! Chris Rathbone is a man who is more than capable of delivering work to a high standard, indeed he surpasses that standard to ensure the job he carries out is completely fit for purpose. He has just finished a facia, soffit and guttering job for me and without any extra expense has used the best quality guttering because he felt the job needed it. There was no increase to the job cost, it wasn't originally specified but he just felt uneasy about fitting something unsuitable for the task in hand. I would have no issues at all recommending him to others and I'd certainly use him again. It's been a while since I've had so much confidence in someone within the building trade. He deserves a glowing review, my wife and I love the work he's done for us. And just for the record I didn't know him prior to this job!

third time I have used Chris,he is a gentleman and expert at his job.gets started straight away after explaining the job he is about to do.goes about his work with minimum fuss and cleans up afterwards.his prices are very reasonable as well.if you use his services you will not be disappointed.

Quick and Efficient

Chris came a day earlier than he first said he would, my guttering had come apart, he had a look at it and fixed it in no time at all. would employ him again and would recommend him .
