"Can not rate Ian highly enough. Found him through checkatrade. Price was good, but more importantly his patience in answering my endless questions. Him and his colleague worked non stop both days and left us with a vastly improved heating and hot water system with almost zero mess. Ian showed me all the main components and explained in simple terms how they work, when they were ready he demonstrated the power flush and showed what they had removed from our system. And finally, he ran through the instructions carefully and has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Would def recommend"

Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top — in writing — before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.

Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced — get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
