John was friendly and knowledgeable from the initial quote all the way through to completion of the repointing work. The front of our house is now much improved, and I would definitely recommend John Jarvis Builders to others who are looking for somebody to undertake exterior repointing work. One of my neighbours was so impressed that they also contracted him to undertake repairs to a wall on their property after he completed the work on my house.

John came to complete a few building tasks including repairing cracked brickwork and insulating/re-cladding a dormer. He was polite, reliable and completed the works in a timely manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.

I contacted John to look to replace some spoilt bricks on my chimney. John surveyed the job and put forward his proposal in a timely manner. I agreed to the works and John was very prompt to return and carry out the works. When John started the works it was clear that the chimney was in a worse state of repair than previously thought, he explained that the chimney could either be completely rebuilt or taken down. I opted to have it taken down and John completed the work the same day. He was very professional, informative and helpful. He returned a few days later to clear the rubble and has left the area clean and tidy. It is refreshing to find a reliable tradesman, I would use John again for future work and would recommend him to anyone!

John replaced a wall at the front of my property, which was not straightforward due to the fact it is on a bend and a gradient. Having been repeatedly let down by another builder, it was refreshing to find someone who replied promptly and completed the job as agreed to a high standard. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Job was to replace 5 or 6 damaged bricks. It was a small job, in an awkward location, but complete quickly and to a high standard.

John worked with us for a couple of months to convert our garage into a gym and join it to the main house. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him and his team. He was a delight to work with - professional, polite and a listener - always showed up when he said he would, kept to the budget set at the outset and delivered what was promised. He also built an internal stair bannister for us, built sheds and sorted a draining issue - so happy to help with jobs big and small.

I had a leak in my roof and had contacted a number of roofers about it - John was the only person to actually get into the loft to investigate it to confirm the issue before quoting. All others just quoted from my photograph of where I thought the leak was occurring (and I am not a specialist in roofs!). He came across as knowledgeable and experienced and explained exactly what he found, both at the point of doing the quote, and when he came to do the repair job. I will only know for certain that the repair works when we get the next significant rain storm but from what he said at the time he gave me confidence that it will work.

On explaining the problem, John was able to provide a likely sollution. We took confidence from his experience and knowledge. The work was carried out soon after recieving a quote and so far, after adjusting some roof tiles, the damp wall and rain spilling over the guttering has stopped. Time will tell if it's cured permanently.

Very pleased and would use again for other projects! Very prompt, responsive and got the job done within a good time frame.
