Highlights

Steven gave a realistic quote, always arrived on time, and worked hard to complete the job. He had to overcome some unexpected issues during the work but did so without fuss. Clearly knows his trade and made some welcome suggestions about how to improve the outcome. Will be using him again. More than happy to recommend.

I would highly recommend as work done to a high standard and was knowledgeable about other lighting work needing done so will definitely be using again.

First impressions Steve came across as a nice guy on the phone. Said he had the required certification and was not required in Scotland to notify the work and would issue a certificate on completing the CU install. I was happy with the price for the work to install the unit but cost of material's CU box and RCBO's was double the price I had worked it out to be. He later also checked as I did online and we agreed a much-reduced cost half the original. He turned up at the arranged time and he and an employee installed the CU quickly. Carried out testing and said the electrics were in good order and would send the certificate and invoice once home. I thought at the time for major work there was not that much testing carried out although he did send the other guy about the house to check. Once he left, I turned a spare 20AMP RCBO for future EV off and the lights went out. Further testing showed some labels on the wrong switch. I called him and to his credit just completed the job had to ru

I called him and to his credit just completed the job had to rush off for and came back. The lights that should have been on a 6AMP RCBO were indeed on the wrong 20AMP MCB. A little dangerous if I had not spotted the error. I received the invoice as promised and was told he would complete the certificate at the weekend. As he came across as a nice trustworthy guy and from the good previous reviews, I checked I paid the invoice in full. My mistake in being to trusting. I later discovered when putting items in the cupboard that all cables had packing glad around the incoming wires apart from the main tails so enough room to get my fingers into the box let alone my grandchild which was main reason for upgrade in first instance. I checked on GOOGLE and found this is an EICR category C1 danger present and should be rectified immediately. I called and agreed he would rectify this issue. He did not show up as agreed. I know he had family issues wife due to give birth so could understand but been nice to be told he would not be attending. To date I think we have rearranged a new appointment 5 or 6 times and not shown up each time also promising to complete the certification that night and yet to receive it. I would also add that he has not responded to a call on my phone or WhatsApp messages although know he has read them. Only get a response if use a new phone no. but running out of those that he has not set to go direct to voice mail. Odd no response to me but call directly after on new phone and answered straight away. My recommendation if want anything more than a plug fitted don’t use this firm. I now have to pay to get his work checked.

Worth checking yourself

Electrical work in homes in England & Wales should be done by a registered competent person who can self-certify it meets the Part P safety rules. Check they're on the official register.

Check the electrical register
In England and Wales, notifiable electrical work (new circuits, a consumer unit, anything in a bathroom or kitchen) must by law be signed off under Part P of the Building Regulations. Confirm they will handle that.
Prefer an electrician registered with a government-approved competent-person scheme (NICEIC, NAPIT or ELECSA) so they can self-certify the work meets the wiring regulations.
Insist on the Electrical Installation Certificate (or Minor Works Certificate) when the job is done. It is your proof the work is safe and compliant, and you will need it if you ever sell.
