Highlights
“We had a wall which had become totally penetrated from a leaking tap on the other side over some years. As anyone reading this review will testify it is quite nerve wracking choosing a damp specialist firm as all one reads about are cowboys and bad work etc. etc. We used Which Trusted trader. We looked at 3 firms and I am really glad to say we chose Assured Preservations. Assured Preservations were absolutely super at very step of the process from liaising with the office, visiting to undertake a survey , agreeing what we did and did not want , visiting and doing the work in 2 stages at our request. It was a very good price as well We had had building work 9 months before so we knew all about the risk pf dust and were concerned about the risk of damage to a new floor - we need not have worried. I sent the email below to their office at the end of the work and am happy to put it on this review. "Please pass on out thanks to Paul and all the team, everything went very smoothly on both visits. In particular we were very impressed with the care with which dust sheets and mats were meticulously fitted to avoid dust spreading during the removal of the plaster and the care on both visits with clearing up afterwards, it was much appreciated. The new plaster looks super. We will happily recommend Assured Preservations to any of our friends who may need similar work. " Sorry if this review is a bit long - but I do think they are really good”
“Really impressed with the service received for rising damp. Much more reasonable quote than other companies and the team that came and did the work were friendly and efficient. I hope not to have damp issues in the future, but if I do, I would definitely use these guys again. Thank you.”
“Had some damp-repairs and damp-proofing works done on our flat immediately after we bought it. Assured gave us a competitive quote (not the cheapest and they did charge to come out and do a survey, but that gave us more confidence in the quote than those we had from other firms that were more speculative) and a detailed plan, and when we commissioned the works, were able to fit us in at a time to suit us which we really appreciated. The works went smoothly, the guys were helpful and friendly and cleared up after themselves whilst they were ongoing. There was a problem with an extractor fan that was fitted during the works and someone came back to inspect it and then replace it at no extra cost, and then when an additional patch of wall above where some of the works had been carried out became damp a few weeks later, Assured were able to send someone out who quickly identified the cause and fixed it within a day. Would recommend on the basis of our experience.”

From the first meeting, Mr Paul Ewing, I was very impressed. He explained everything to me and the works that were to be carried out. How the area would be prepared in order for the works to be completed. Appointments days were agreed and kept to. Covered everything including carpets and cleaned and hoovered so was tidy. As works progressed they were in contact with surveyor at all time and sent photos of the completed works for approval. Mandy in the office was also extremely helpful and lovely to talk too. I was just sorry i couldn't make builders tea to their standards lol.
We employed the firm to inspect a property before purchasing it to get an idea of repair costs. We went ahead with the purchase and employed the firm to carry out all recommendations plus more that were uncovered during the works. This work has not stopped water from coming into the house. Initially, the firm responded to this by sending people back, at one point they noticed a deep hole by a fascia board that wasn’t identified and filled this. Rain continued to come into the property despite that, which we notified the firm of in June 2021. As of 13th October, I am still waiting to hear what they will do to address the problem although they have sent people round to look at in July and September. Calls and emails are ignored and a lot of time has been wasted. I think they are waiting for us to give up and can’t see that the guarantee is worth much. I would not recommend the firm to anyone especially those looking to buy a new property needing to trust an expert inspection and recommendations for damp.
Assured Preservations installed a French drain on the boundary of our property. The work was done to a high standard. We would have no hesitation in recommending the company. An excellent service.
Assured Preservation came to the property to assess and quote for rotted floors in two areas of property. Knowledgeable surveyor who accurately assessed presence of type of rot and explained remedial works needed. Sent written quotes and arranged date for work. Two operatives removed rotten floorboards, treated remaining where appropriate and rebuilt floors to an excellent standard. clean and tidy and rubbish was removed from front of property later that day by another vehicle.
We had Paul and his team work on our front room. We had damp along our outside walls for some time and Paul recommended a course of action to resolve the issue and prevent it from recurring. The team did a great job in hacking off the plaster inside and out and make good the damp issue we had. They are a professional, friendly team and completed the work to high standard, helping us with our electrics along the way. We are very happy with the work and would recommend using Assured Preservation. They are very knowledgeable in the area they work on and would definitely recommend them.

Having had contradictory diagnosis from several different companies for damp/moisture affecting the skirting boards in both bedrooms of double fronted bungalow my roofer recommended Assured Preservation because some of his customers had been very happy with the work undertaken by them. I arranged a free home visit. Paul arrived on time and after careful assessment/examination of the damaged areas he diagnosed the problem and recommended French drains to stop rainwater from settling by the external walls and change the damaged skirting board. Paul was professional, polite and very knowledgeable. I received detailed quote with diagrams of the work to be undertaken within a couple of days. 3 men undertook the work over 2 days arrived on time and were pleasant, professional, hard working leaving the place clean on completion. First class. These days you rarely find such a competent, conscientious and trust worthy company. Would definitely recommend this company.
Needed a substantial damp proof course on one side of the house. The initial survey carried out was quick, concise and clear. All details regarding the problem and subsequent work was clearly explained. The work was completed to a very high standard on time and with the minimum of disruption. The electrics and carpentry required as part of the damp proofing was included and again undertaken to the highest level. The team that came to the house were polite professional and very tidy. Would certainly recommend.
The agency managing our flat got in touch with Assured Preservations. Paul attended the property, made some sketches, took some notes and most importantly, he was happy to answer all my questions. After 2 days, he provided a report that was instrumental in understanding the next steps needed to address the damp problem in the house. Then he arranged a time frame that would work for us too and his team of 3 professional employees attended the property. In 2 days they damp proofed two rooms, serviced all heat recovery ventilation units and left the place in great condition. They also gave us a 30 year guarantee for rising damp which shows how serious and professional they are. Thank you!
We had four men working in our house for three days, they were the best workers anyone could wish for. They worked quick, they cleaned up all the mess they made which wasn't much. Polite, very friendly men. I would recommend them to anyone.
I am really impressed by this company. I had a problem that I was convinced was rising damp and was mentally prepared for an expensive repair involving replacement of some of the damp-proof course. Over the phone I arranged for a home visit and their representative arrived exactly on time. After spending some time assessing the problem including the use of meters to confirm what he was finding, he assured me that the issue was purely one of condensation and advised me on how I could easily overcome it. He could easily have quoted me for a lot of expensive work and I would have been none the wiser. Instead I found myself dealing with a competent and honest company- I rate them first class.
I just had a huge job done by Assured Preservations which involved my basement flat. I have been so impressed with Paul & his team in the job they've done, their communication & the after care. Couldn't recommend them enough.
For all those who have endured the dreaded dry rot, Paul and his team are the perfect solution. No frills...honest and practical solutions. I am quite anxiety prone .... (with dry rot who wouldn't be!!) ... and Paul could have easily recommended costly and unnecessary remedial works.... on the contrary he reined me in!!. Anyone who is looking for a professional, conscientious and trust worthy individual, look no further.
Paul and his team put in a waterproof plaster system (SIKA) for us in several rooms in a small flat. They did a high quality job, with the minimum of fuss and they got it done fast. Unlike some companies that I asked to quote, this company has the range of skills needed to deal with some of the minor jobs before and after the re-plastering - eg taking down some cupboards for us, putting in boxing and re-installing a (decorative) fireplace. This made life a lot easier. When we developed an electrical problem mid-way through, the team took the time to thoroughly investigate possible causes, and made all efforts to try and fix the problem (which turned out to be unrelated to the works). Paul managed the team's time well, with the main works completed exactly as promised, and an extra, last-minute job (a screed floor) also finished pretty promptly despite being unplanned. They took away all mess as they went along, which was appreciated by our neighbours, and they did a good job of tidying up and completing. They took good care of our flat - and they were good value compared to the other quotes I received. Paul's advice was helpful, and we got things done to a good quality standard, but still at a a reasonable cost. Polite, professional and with a lot of experience. I would definitely use them again.
Had widespread rising damp in my house. Dreaded the upheaval, mess etc. and the fact that I would have any number of builders in the house for a period. None of my misgivings came to fruition. The whole experience was virtually pain free, the workmen friendly, helpful, polite, efficient and hardworking, and always tidied up each day.
My husband and I have been having some problems with a wet wall/a bit of mould in one of the bedrooms. We contacted this company after reading some good reviews on here and on StreetLife. We had a free consultation and my husband was very happy with the service (I was not present). They provided us with lots of helpful advice regarding how to solve the problem and what steps to take. They did not try to rip us off (which seems to be the norm these days?? So many bad experiences recently), or to sell us products that we may not need for now. We will definitely call them again in the future if we need further assistance.
