Detailed reviews

This was a difficult job because position of the bath made getting at the plumbing difficult, the make of taps was unknown and the cartridges non-standard size. Mr Ingold made great efforts to get and fit suitable replacements, and to fit the pump without removing the bath. I had total confidence in his approach, and the water flow is better than it has ever been. The work on the shower was very quick and neat. There was no mess at any time and I felt comfortable leaving him to work in my house. I did not ask for an estimate and the price was what I expected.

David saved the day and went out of his way to quickly fix the leaky boiler. Can’t thank him enough. Very knowledgeable would highly recommend.

Burst pipe on a very snowy day. Water was coming through our ceilings in numerous places. Phoned panicking and he was here within half an hour. Fixed the leak within 20 mins and charged a very reasonable fee. Would definitely recommend.

Approved plumbers on the free WaterSafe register are vetted, qualified to the water regulations and insured. Check they're listed, or find a WaterSafe-approved plumber near you.

Check the WaterSafe register
Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top, in writing, before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced. Get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
Gas and boiler work is a separate, regulated trade, not general plumbing. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance is specifically registered to do gas work, and ask to see that registration before they start.
