Highlights

I had Robert out to do our annual boiler service and gas certificate a few months ago, he turned up when he said he would and completed the job quickly and efficiently…. Then we had an issue this week with a big leak due to the rain which unfortunately got into the boiler causing a fault. Robert attended straight away and diagnosed the problem, ordering the replacement parts and returning exactly when he said he would to fit them. He’s a friendly, honest, knowledgeable and reliable engineer. Thoroughly recommend him!

Robert fixed a leak in our boiler and replaced a faulty valve on our hot water tank (we used him twice). Very quick and reliable and the work was great quality and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend Robert and Heat Solve.

I needed new radiators in my home so phoned this trader’s mobile number and got a call back 2 days later. (Btw are they called Heat Solve or Heat n Leak?) Said he wouldn’t quote unless I paid him £130 up front to do so: he had lots of work “at this time of year” (December) and it wasn’t “worth his while” in that context to quote for free - the implication being that he didn’t have a consistent policy on charging for quotes but instead just tried it on when he thought he could get away with it. I offered to send photos of the radiators that needed replacement so that he could quote - or at least estimate - without having to visit the property, but he just brushed me off, and in a rude, arrogant and dismissive way. He did everything he could during our brief conversation to big up the job, dissing everything from my pipework to my nearly new Worcester Bosch boiler (he claims to specialise in these, so presumably has a link with the manufacturer, but dismissed these excellent boilers as “ok until they start leaking”) and trying to push expensive extra services (Powder Flush?). And all this without laying eyes on my house! I’ve researched the practices of tradespeople with regard to charging for quotes, and while some do so, it is wholly unreasonable to charge £130 to quote for a job of such a relatively small size and low level of complexity. Not at all what I expected from a Which? Trusted Trader, and inconsistent with this trader’s claim of “no hidden extras”.

Friendly, reliable and efficient

This is the third time I’ve used this firm. On every occasion, Robert has turned up on time and got to grips with the problem. With a problem with a central heating and hot water boiler, a speedy and effective response is essential and Heatsolve (London) provides this.

Good Work

Robert fixed my toilet flush. He did a good job, went out to get the gadget for flush and returned in a short time. Thorough, tidy and very professional. Good value. Good Standard. I would highly recommend him.

Kitchen white goods and counter install

Robert installed new counter tops and replacement white goods in the kitchen of our rental property. He also ran a new gas feed to the hob as the previous one was electric, serviced the combi-boiler and carried out the annual “Gas Safe” inspection. He arrived on the date and time agreed and carried out the work as agreed and priced. He actually spent more time than first planned but did not charge extra. The work was carried out carefully and to a very high standard. This was the second time he did some work for us, the first time was an emergency call out for leaking water mains; that job was also carried satisfactorily. I would fully recommend him.

Professional Boiler Service

I needed to find a new person to service a very old boiler. Rob was on-time, professional and serviced the boiler. He also answered my questions about when I should replace it, very clearly. I thought that the price for the service was very reasonable.

Perfect service!

Rob was courteous and sensitive to the current situation re the pandemic when visiting our home. He was a pleasure to talk to and did the service on our boiler efficiently and neatly. There was nothing to do after he left, other than be assured that everything was working well, and that we'd keep his number for anything in the future.

Work in various flats

I have contacted Robert from Leak & Heat several times on behalf of residents within the building with problems ranging from broken boilers to blocked sinks/toilets. Feed back has been very positive on how Robert explains what the problem has been and how he has repaired, also his politeness and ensuring that he cleans up leaving the area clean and tidy after completion.

Central heating leak fixed

Found details from Trusted Traders. Sent text to Rob on Thursday, immediate response that he could attend, fixed for following Monday. Meantime I emailed a photo of the leak location and he gave a guide price range. He arrived within 30 mins of estimated time, did a neat job of cutting out defective joint and renewing in an awkward location. Tested for leaks and air in the system fired the boiler and left us with heat. Price was around the guide figure plus a small amount for some unexpected extra parts. He is friendly and clearly very experienced. I would use him again without hesitation.

Can't Recommend this Trader Enough!

Rob was quick to respond to my enquiry and really did go out of his way to help me with my electrical issue. I'd used Rob once before to install an extractor above my cooker and kept his details for any future work I may need. This weekend I'd created an issue myself and messaged Rob to see if he could help fix the issue. He responded right away and booked me in first thing on Monday morning. Really helpful and accommodating, super friendly and really reasonable in price too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rob for any work.

Approved plumbers on the free WaterSafe register are vetted, qualified to the water regulations and insured. Check they're listed, or find a WaterSafe-approved plumber near you.

Check the WaterSafe register
Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top, in writing, before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced. Get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
Gas and boiler work is a separate, regulated trade, not general plumbing. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance is specifically registered to do gas work, and ask to see that registration before they start.
